I think Scrivener was great for the last few scholarly papers that I wrote,
but for everything else it just seems to be hounding over me. I've been
doing just as what you've been doing with simple notepads / text. I think
the cloud backup of google docs is a great failsafe reason to keep that
though. I think the cheap-but accessible option is more superior than the
expensive-long-term because 99% the latter is going to be intimidating to
use because nothing I do will "be worth the money".
